Trippple Nippples seem to be doing well. They have toured Europe twice, done a bunch of sell-out shows in New York, supported the likes of Devo and Die Antwoord, and have been getting high praise wherever they go. Even on websites where bitter old hipsters (myself excluded) frequent, the feedback I've seen about Trippple Nippples is largely positive. They've gotta be something right!!
The GigGuide team are excited about seeing Trippple Nippples rock out in Taiwan and very happy they answered these questions from us…
Several years ago on a boat in Thailand, far from shore, the captain took off his shirt, started giggling loudly, and showed me his third nipple - it was located in his armpit! Do any of you have triple nipples, or have you seen anyone with triple nipples?
One of our good friends have third nippple. I like tickling it, she laughs, it makes me happy.
Is there a specific message you want to express with your music and performance?
We want people to feel electricity in the air at our shows, so we design our shows with this in mind. A show is successful when we can feel the entire room moving in circles in anti-clockwise, it feels good to us instinctually and everyone looks very alive and moving in circles.
Who would win a slap-off between Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and David Bowie? Why?
Definitely Iggy Pop. Have you seen him with his shirt off? But maybe David Bowie would use first use his charisma power to diffuse the slap-off and they would all end up drinking cups of tea
Which would you prefer: to last longer than the Rolling Stones or to explode into a massive ball of flames within the next 6 months?
Somewhere middle would be nicer. But if we have to choose, we'd say explode.
Who were your musical idols while growing up?
GG.Allin, N.W.A, Dead Kennedys, Destiny's Child, Daniel Johnston---the list could go on forever....
What is the worst thing someone could say about your band? Why?
Sexy. It's creepy.
The show you've enjoyed the most…
Two shows we enjoyed the most, we ended up getting banned from both venues. One time we broke a PA system with mud we were wearing as a costume which was kind of a nightmare, another time we totally destroyed a swanky fancy venue with buckets full of whipped cream and bags full of duck feathers that led to the firing of the person in charge of the night….but we are not bad people, It's just that things sometimes get out of control…but we want everyone to be happy. Don't want to leave bitter taste in anybody's mouth. We don't naturally feel like we need to be confronting, but the ideas we come up with are kind of intense for some other people. Can't wait for Taiwan!!
Whether it's art or just a fun (albeit slightly fucked-up) party, I think you'd be foolish to miss them.
They play two shows in Taiwan for the opening of the (always great!) Urban Nomad Film Festival;
Kaohsiung - Pier 2 on 04/13 (Friday)
Taipei - Huashan Creative Arts Center on 04/13 (Saturday)
