主辦：Just One Fix + AB Koo
Just One Fix has made quite a splash in Taipei's electronic dance music scene by hosting two unforgettable warehouse parties in 2012 alone. Moonlit Ruins marks its third such event in as many months. AB Koo, the original Drum 'n' Bass event organizer in Taipei, teams up with Just One Fix this time out.
The driving force behind newly established Just One Fix is DJ @LLEN, veteran of all things dance music in Taipei since the early 1990s. The list of DJ @LLEN's accomplishments is too long to recall in detail here, but it's worth mentioning his longtime link to underground parties, as Moonlit Ruins channels that spirit via its warehouse party vibe.
That began in 1995 with DJ @LLEN's “Finally...The Party,” the seminal first-ever outdoor dance music party in Taipei, staged on a floodplain at the city's edge. That same year he organized “The Second Coming,” the second outdoor rave in Taipei history, Tribal Massive the following year and, well, the list goes on...
AB Koo, meanwhile, first staked out a presence under the Hua Chung Bridge beginning in 1996 with the outdoor party named “Totally Eclipsed,” and didn't quit its “residency” there until 2003. “The Kick Outside,” “The Stomping Grounds,” “Danse Macabre” (on Halloween) and “Tainted Love” (on Valentines Day) are among the many AB Koo parties which went down under that bridge.
Fast forward to 2012 and DJ @LLEN is still kicking it, still keeping it underground, this time amid industrial ruins at the city's edge. This time under the Just One Fix moniker. This time with AB Koo in a long-overdue partnership. This time, Just One Fix and AB Koo hope to see you there dancing under the Mid-Autumn moon.
由DJ @LLEN所發起新的派對組織"Just One Fix 強心針"與台北老牌派對組織AB Koo再次共同呈獻一場睽違已久的中秋派對！
@LLEN (Just One Fix) was playing electronic dance music in Taipei even before there was a bona fide dance scene. Rightfully tagged “Godfather” of electronic dance music in this city via his “Tekno Invasion” radio show (1993), his “Hyper Hyper” club nights at Underground (1994), and his “Finally...the Party”—Taiwan's first-ever outdoor rave (1995), his impact is indisputable. He rubs shoulders with the global dance music elite, but keeps his sights and his sound firmly routed to the underground. In recent years he took his electronic sounds to Beijing and all points across China, but Taipei is a better place now that he's back. With “Bass in the Place” as the theme of “Moonlit Ruins,” @LLEN will deliver a Bass-centric set.
Sylvain (Just One Fix, UnderU) is a hyper-informed source on anything and everything Dubstep, Post-Dubstep, UK Bass, 130, Future Garage and whatever name “Bass Music” is being labeled under at present. His tireless pursuit of Bass has seen him partner up with Bounce Girlz to organize a series of memorably sweaty “UnderU” parties at Underworld. His “DiSCOATTACK” blog is the go-to source for all-things Bass in Taipei, and beyond. His DJ sets provide the perfect primer for anyone interested in hearing future sounds today. And make sure you hit up Ha Bros at Breeze Center soon for some of that to-die-for gelato Sylvain serves up when he's taking a break from gracing Taipei with Bass!
Katrina (Acidboost, L.I.L.) is more than just another pretty face at a party. And it's not a party unless she's on the bill. UK Funky and UK Bass are twin sounds she's known for populating floors with, but she's a deft party organizer in her own right. For the now-defunct “Melt Wednesdays” club night at Revolver, Katrina teamed with Sylvain and Rob Jabbaz in presenting the most out-there sounds ever heard on a Taipei dancefloor. Whether organizing as Acidboost, or as L.I.L. with Zo, Katrina-hosted events are not to be missed.
Lai (Agnst Asia) is a young talent whose impact on the Drum 'n' Bass scene in this city cannot be underestimated. Without Lai on the bill it's not really a party, and for Moonlit Ruins he will be delivering his first-ever “Old School Drum 'n' Bass” set. Classics from the Techstep era, early Liquid and a few Jump-Up tracks for good measure, ensure that Lai's set will be worth catching. Lai's star is on a blazing trajectory.
dINO has a pedigree dating back to when he played at Spin under DJ Mykal's tutelage, after which he took this city by storm as a key player in the second wave of Taipei-based Drum 'n' Bass DJs. With years of experience behind him, dINO can be counted on to deliver an impeccable and tasty selection of 180bpm sounds. In a class of his own in the local Drum 'n' Bass community, dINO has shared the stage with numerous international acts including Andy C, Sub Focus, Marcus Intalex and, most recently, Dieselboy.
Zo (L.I.L., Useless Brotherhood) has been serving up trippy, Dub-tastic sets for years with the Useless Brotherhood crew, and regularly slays floors with a heavy and heady mix of Dubstep, Drumstep and Drum 'n' Bass at parties like, well, Moonlit Ruins. Zo can also be heard delivering tripped-out sounds in the (shhh!) hidden back room at Roxy Rocker weekly. Keep an eye out for the parties he organizes under the L.I.L. name with the above mentioned Katrina.
Mad Brain is an up-and-coming talent whose paint-peeling, face-melting Dubstep sets are already the stuff of legend in Taipei's party scene. You have been warned: set foot on the floor at your own risk when Mad Brain steps up to the decks. Mad Brain opened for Dieselboy on his most recent visit to Taipei.
